Transforming Classrooms into Immersive Learning Environments We Call Innovation Labs®

Stimulating CuriosityImagine walking into a classroom that feels more like a tech startup, an invention studio, or a design lab. Inventionland’s award-winning Innovation Labs® do just that. These immersive spaces are tailored to the specific needs of each school, taking into account budget, student age ranges, and existing architectural features. The Inventionland team provides everything from 3D renderings to equipment suggestions, collaborating with your school’s administrative team, as well as architects and construction teams if needed.

Whether it’s transforming an underutilized library or designing an entirely new space, the goal is to spark imagination, foster engagement, and create an environment where creativity thrives.

Real-World STEM Curriculum Powered by Inventionland’s 9-Step Inventing Method

The 9-step Method

At the heart of Inventionland Education is a student-led, project-based curriculum grounded in a real-world 9-Step Method. This process guides students working in small groups as a team to identify a problem and then invent or innovate a product to solve it.

This flexible curriculum has four different grade levels (lower elementary, elementary, middle, and high school) for grades K-12 and doesn’t require teachers to have previous innovation experience. Instead, it encourages a mindset of exploration and possibility, making it accessible to all learners and adaptable to a wide range of schedules and delivery models.

As students progress through the course, they not only gain technical knowledge but also develop essential skills in communication, collaboration, and critical thinking that prepare them for future careers.

Celebrating Student Innovation

One of the highlights of the Inventionland experience is the student showcase or invention contest held at the end of each course. Students pitch their inventions to a panel of judges, gaining real-world presentation and marketing experience. Top teams even have the chance to compete at the national level, presenting their ideas at Inventionland’s headquarters in Pittsburgh.

These events are more than just competitions. They’re confidence boosters that give students a sense of accomplishment and pride in their work.
