We have prepared this Privacy Policy to describe the types of personal and non-personal information we collect, how we use such information, and to whom and under what circumstances we disclose such information. By accessing Inventionland® Education educational materials, you signify your assent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personally identifiable information as described in this Privacy Policy. Your school or other education institution has entered into a license agreement with Inventionland, LLC that requires the collection, use and disclosure of this information.

Collection of Information

Personal Information
As a general policy, Inventionland, LLC collects personal information from users of its educational materials only when users or the education institution supervising users voluntarily provides it to us by registering students and faculty to utilize the Inventionland Education education materials. The only personal information that Inventionland, LLC collects is first and last name, which is associated with the particular education institution that has entered into a license for use of the educational materials.

Non-Personal Information
As part of our standard operation, we may collect certain non-personal information from users of the educational materials including, but not limited to, the IP address from which the materials were accessed. In addition, we may collect information about the date, time and duration of the use of the educational materials and information that would indicate which portions of the materials were accessed and which portions were completed.

Cookies
We may use cookies to collect the non-personal information described above, which may be combined with your personal information. A cookie is a small text file that may be stored on the hard drive of your computer when you access Inventionland Education educational materials. Only you and Inventionland, LLC may access that cookie. If you accessed our materials after clicking on or through a link on another site, the company that created that link may have also placed a cookie on your computer for this purpose.

Access to Information You Provide to Us
You may access any personal information you provide to us, correct or modify any such personal information, or direct us to make no further use of your personal information. To do so, please send an email with your request by emailing info@inventionlandinstitute.com. Removal of your first and last name may render you unable to access the educational materials under the license between Inventionland and your education institution.

Use of Information
Subject to the limitations stated in this policy, we may use the information we collect from you for purposes including but not limited to the following: (1) to help address questions and problems with our materials and services; (2) to administer the materials; (3) to conduct internal reviews of our materials (for example, to determine the number of visitors using specific portions of the educational materials; (4) to help us better understand visitors’ use of our materials; and (5) to protect the security or integrity of our materials. We use your contact information to send you information about our company and promotional material from our advertisers and affiliated marketing companies. Subject to the limitations stated in this policy and in the license agreement for access to Inventionland Education educational materials, teachers and other supervisory personnel of student users of the materials may use the information we collect from you to monitor progress in using educational materials and date and time of completion of assignments.

Information That Will Not Be Disclosed
Inventionland, LLC will not transfer, sell, rent or in any manner communicate information to anyone outside of the company, except for communication with the education institution supervising the user whose information has been gathered.

Disclosure of Information
Subject to limitations stated in this policy, Inventionland, LLC may transfer or otherwise disclose information collected from you to the following entities for the following purposes: (1) to our employees, independent contractors, subsidiaries, affiliates, consultants, business associates, service providers, and suppliers, if the disclosure will enable any of these entities to perform a business, professional, or technical support function in support of the education materials for us; (2) to our employees, independent contractors, service providers and suppliers, to fulfill a product or service request; (3) as necessary if Inventionland, LLC determines that there has been a violation of the Terms of Service, license agreement, and/or applicable law; (4) as necessary if we have reason to believe that such disclosure is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference (either intentionally or unintentionally) with our rights or property, other users of our educational materials, or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities; (6) to respond to judicial process and provide information to law enforcement agencies or in connection with an investigation as permitted by law, or otherwise as required by law; and (7) as provided for under the “Unforeseen Circumstances” section below.

Security
Inventionland, LLC utilizes reasonable security measures to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information placed under our control. We maintain physical, electronic, contractual, and managerial steps to safeguard and secure the information we collect from visitors to our Website. Our servers have been enabled with Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to prevent unauthorized parties from viewing your non-public personal information while in transmission during a secure session.

Children
Except as described below, we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of eighteen.

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act Notice

While providing the Inventionland Education materials and services to schools and students, very limited personal information on students will be gathered. This notice informs you of the information to be gathered, its use and retention. The education institution licensing the Inventionland Education educational materials has received a similar notice and provided consent to the collection of the information described below:

  1. Information to be gathered: Inventionland, LLC will directly seek the student’s first and last name and associate that with the particular school that has licensed the materials.
  2. Purpose and Use of Information: Inventionland, LLC will make the student’s first and last name available to teachers or other adult persons in your school designated by the school’s administration to supervise or instruct in conjunction with the Inventionland Education course materials. The student names will be used to identify the work performed by students online and permit school personnel to assess completion and performance. Inventionland, LLC will make no other use of the information and will not release it to any other parties.
  3. Collection of the student names is by Inventionland, LLC, 585 Alpha Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15238. Questions concerning the collection and use of this information may be addressed to field.nathan@inventionlandinstitute.com and 800-544-3327, ext. 22001.
  4. Inventionland, LLC is prohibited from requiring students to disclose more personal information than is reasonably necessary to participate in the online course work. Inventionland, LLC believes that the collection of names is reasonably necessary.

Third Party Websites
Our educational materials contain links to third party Websites, which may have privacy policies that differ from our own. We are not responsible for the activities and practices that take place on these Websites. Accordingly, we recommend that you review the privacy policy posted on any web site that you may access through links contained in the educational materials.

Unforeseen Circumstances
In the event that Inventionland, LLC sells substantially all of its assets, the personal information provided to access the educational materials may be one of the transferred assets.

Changes
If we change this Privacy Policy, we will post those changes here and revise the Effective Date accordingly. Any such revisions will be effective on the date of posting to the Website, and will apply to all information collected by Inventionland, LLC both prior to and following the effective date. Use of the educational materials following any such revisions will be deemed acceptance of such revisions. You should periodically visit this page to review the current policies with regard to information.

Your California Privacy Rights
Beginning on January 1, 2005, California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits customers of Inventionland, LLC who are California residents to request certain information regarding Inventionland, LLC’s disclosure of personal information to third parties for such third parties’ direct marketing purposes.
