Our STEAM is Building for a Fantastic Fall!

Image

The air is getting a little cooler; the leaves are turning brilliant colors; and, football season has returned! Fall is definitely in the air and around here, that means a whole lot of STEAM to power us through the colder months ahead!

We’ve recently shared exciting news about the new places and makerspaces where you can find Inventionland®Education curriculum and some of the customized tools that can go along with it. Since that time, or curriculum and products have continued to spread across the region like freshly fallen leaves! (Oh yes, we went there!)

IMG_6902We’re currently prepping for the delivery of two 3D printers that we’re setting up at South Fayette Middle School on Monday. As it turns out, the printers will be arriving just in time. South Fayette Middle School has decided to give their new tools a hands-on test-print by adopting our curriculum, which they’ll also be kicking off next week!

Behind the scenes, our representatives were busy attending the Allegheny Intermediate Unit’s STEAM Grant Showcase. At the technologically-advanced event, over 200 students and educators showed off their STEAM by highlighting the makerspaces and equipment they were able to acquire thanks to grants received from the Claude Worthington Benedum and Grable Foundations.

*Spoiler alert… we may get to participate in next year’s STEAM Grant Showcase with Avonworth School District, thanks to the STEAM we helped them to add to their curriculum this year!

CanTeen StaffFinally, we’re excited to be gearing up to take part in CanTEEN Career Exploration’s Tour Your Future this fall. The innovative resource inspires girls to pursue STEM careers and their Tour Your Future exploration is encouraging just that by giving area middle and high school students between the ages of 11-17 the opportunity to see what goes on inside of our very own creative makerspace, Inventionland! The CanTEEN Inventionland®tour is slated for October 15th and if you know any STEM-interested girls who would like to attend, you can get them registered by calling 412.237.1637.

Right now, all signs are pointing to a STEAM-filled fall at the Inventionland®Education. Check back soon for a final look and feedback from The Kiski School as they put their new three-room custom makerspace to use this semester.
