Our Innovation Science curriculum reinforces crucial STREAM concepts, while blending the scientific method with innovation and invention. Students work in small teams to identify problems, develop ideas, build prototypes, and pitch their own inventions. Several student groups have earned actual licensing agreements through their inventions and our curriculum.

Here just some of the middle school upgrades we recently made:

1. Optional AI support: The Innovation Coach is a new AI tool built into the portal, with guardrails for middle schoolers. Admins control whether it’s on or off, and the curriculum works fine without it. It’s there to support student thinking, not replace it.
2. Real business leaders, on video: New “Tomorrow’s World Today” vodcast clips are woven through Steps 1-9, featuring pros from Domino’s, Toyota, Funko, Folger’s, and more.
3. Student inventor spotlights: New intros throughout the course feature past Inventionland students that earned licensing agreements and are selling their products on the global marketplace.
4. The Inventsons: An original comic series follows a family of inventors creatively solving problems. Students can read every issue. It’s great edutainment!
5. Stronger sketching help in Step 4: New tips, techniques, and tutorial videos for visual communication.
6. Better contest planning in Step 9: Expanded guidance on judges, schedules, space setup, and awards for your Invention Contest.
7. Sharper presentation skills: There are new lessons on pitching, storytelling, slide design, and presenting with confidence.
